The Wulin Academy of Arts, named after Wulin, the ancient name of Hangzhou, was formerly known as Dazhen National Institute, Hangzhou Hushu Society of Arts and Hangzhou Meilan Society of Arts. Since its foundation in 1995 at Imperial Wenlan Library on the island of Solitary Hill of the West Lake, the Wulin Academy has been a cultural institution dedicated to the field of Chinese painting, calligraphy, and contemporary art, and devoted to the restoration and perpetuation of the spirit of Chinese art.
